Character Data
Character lists, code points, HTML entities and escape sequences are generated from the Unicode Standard and are reliable. How a character displays on your screen, however, depends on the font in use. A font that lacks a glyph will substitute another one or show a placeholder box, which is a display matter rather than an error in the underlying character.
Keyboard Codes and Shortcuts
ALT codes, Option key combinations and application shortcuts are documented as they behave on common, up-to-date systems. Results vary between operating system versions, keyboard layouts, regional settings and individual applications. A code that works in Microsoft Word may behave differently in a text editor, a terminal or a web form, and we cannot guarantee any particular result on your setup.
Language Notes
Descriptions of how languages use particular marks are written by hand and necessarily simplified. Orthography changes over time, regional and national conventions differ, and exceptions are common. For authoritative guidance on a language, consult a current style guide or a native speaker.
